English: When the five sheaths are negated, the Self shines—pure, of the nature of eternal bliss, the innermost, supreme, and self-luminous.
English: To free oneself from bondage, the wise must practice discrimination between the Self and the non-Self. By that alone, knowing oneself as Existence-Knowledge-Bliss, one becomes happy.
English: Just as one extracts the stalk from the Munja grass, one should differentiate the innermost Self—unattached and actionless—from the world of objects. He who merges everything in that and remains as the Self, is liberated.
English: This body is a product of food and constitutes the Annamaya-kosha. It lives by food and dies without it. Being a mass of skin, flesh, blood, bones, and filth, it can never be the eternally pure Self.
English: This body does not exist prior to birth or after death. It lasts for a moment, its properties are fleeting, and its nature is changeable. It is inert and is perceived like a jar. How can it be one's own Self, the witness of all changes?
